Whenever in the store - in the department of souvenirs, or in the Moscow Planetarium - Museum of Urania or Sky-Park, people see the celestial globe, they often looking at the constellation, someone is looking at the surface of this globe (among other designated objects) try to find our Earth or the Moon and certainly they does not find, because it is not there. But few people know that the idea to put visible (on a clear night) star's configuration on a spherical surface came up with the Greek astronomer Hipparchus about 22 centuries ago. And before him no general globes did not exist. Globe Earth appeared much later globe star. Well, back to the scientific achievements of Hipparchus must be attributed compilation of accurate and complete catalog of stars visible to the eye - to ancient times, of course.
